Rui Rebelo has a PhD in Biology from the University of Lisbon (PhD specific area - Ecology and Demography of Salamandra salamander). At present is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Lisbon (FCUL), where he teaches subjects related to Ecology and Conservation of Amphibians and Reptiles . He is also the curator of the herpetological collection of the National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC). His research and scientific publications mainly verse herpetological themes and especially the impacts of exotic and invasive species in the herpetological community. He supervised five doctoral and more than 30 master's degrees in FCUL and other universities, dealing with these thematics. He also participated in several research projects (6 as a researcher - coordinator) , mainly financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology , but also by other national and abroad entities.
