Amadeu Soares published over 290 articles in scientific journals, 6 book chapters and 5 books, author/co-author of more than 300 oral and poster presentations, in workshops and national and international congresses (several by invitation). Received 5 awards and / or honors, of which the Prize 'Estímulo à Excelência', from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in 2004, and the SETAC -Europe Environmental Education Award in 2013. His main scientific areas are Ecotoxicology and Functional Biodiversity . He supervised more than 47 MSc students , 31 PhD students and 20 post-doctoratall researchers, all concluded. Member of more than 100 exam panels for viva voice examinations (for MSc and PhD Habilitation) and several for academic career assessment. Participated in 34 evaluation panels from research projects and grants, 19 international and 15 national. Member of the organising and scientinfic committees of more than 25 national and international congresses. Participates / participated in several research projects funded by the European Commission (8 as coordinator), INTAS (as coordinator), as a consultant in other international projects, and several nationally funded projects (10 as coordinator). Was the Vice President and President of SETAC -Europe ( Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry ) in 1994/95 and 1995 /96, respectively. Member of various scientific committees at the European Commission, namely the Scientific Advisory Committee of the ECVAM-European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods, operating in Ispra (1993-2000), the Scientific Committee on Toxicology, Ecotoxicology and the Environment, working within DG Health and Consumer Protection, European Commission (2000-2004) and the Scientific Committee of the European Food Safety Authority, panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed.
