Eduardo Ferreira graduated in Biology, by the University of Aveiro and obtained an MSc in Ecology, by the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, during which he characterized the genetic structure and diversity of wild boar in Portugal. During his PhD at University of Aveiro, developed in collaboration with the Federal University of Tocantins (Brazil), he studied the herpetofauna of the middle Araguaia river basin. This work was focused on the diversity of anurans and lizards of this ecotonal region between Cerrado and Amazonian Forest, and on the potential role of Araguaia as a barrier to genetic flow for amphibians and reptiles. After the PhD, he was lecturer in the University of Cape Verde. Presently, he is a post-doctoral fellow at the Wildlife Research Unit (CESAM - University of Aveiro) and researching animal population genetics, with a major focus on wildlife conservation, and ecology and biodiversity conservation, with a major focus on the amphibian populations of Baixo Vouga Lagunar.
